I have seen some lovely 'fine art' images on Facebook recently so I decided to try manipulate or 'photoshop' one of my heron photos from the botanic gardens trip on April fools Day!
I have included on of the original images to give you an idea of the changes I made to the image. I did not read up on the technique, I tend not to have the patience to read or look at videos. I know I haven't done it the right way, but it was good to get started. All I wanted to do with the image was to make it more 'dreamy'. I used photoshop and started by using 'select subject' to get the heron and paste it to a new layer. I copied the original photo a couple of times and reduced contrast, added blur, added dehase in sections (radial mask in camera raw). I then reduced opacity of each layer until I got an effect I was reasonably happy with. I made sure that the isolated heron layer was on the top of the pile.
