At last, a short trip with the camera! I had a brief visit to the National Botanic Gardens, Kilmacurragh on St. Patrick's Day. The estate developed in the 19th Century by Thomas Acton is now managed by the OPW and is free for visitors. The history of Kilmacurragh is interesting some of which can be found here and is worth a read.
This feature photo is of a crocus, I felt that as the majority of the image is green it was fitting for celebrating St. Patrick's Day. I like to try shooting flowers at ground level, holding the camera near the ground or putting it on the ground for a different perspective. The contrast between the purple and the green caught my eye and the dew drop was an added dimension. I used my 180mm EF macro lens on the Canon R5ii. I set the aperture at f/11 because I wanted to have the crocus in focus and felt f/2.8 would have blurred some of the flower, and I hoped the low perspective would help with the background. I had shutter speed of 1/80 sec. with ISO-100.
