When this act came on I decided I hadn't a hope of getting all 5 performers in focus and adopted a point and shoot type approach in the hope that the autotracking would pick up the movement. Unlike the shot in my previous blog, this time I felt it essential to shoot with a fast shutter speed (1/1000) to try freeze the movement of the acrobat mid air and have a better chance of a sharp(ish) shot. Their outfits toned well with the circus lighting which was useful. I chose this shot from the sequence because I liked the upside down central acrobat and the hand action of the performer on the left who had just released him. An additional challenge was trying to get all 5 performers into the frame at 70mm on my 70-200mm lens. I used one of the photos from the sequence at a club competition but it scored low with the judge saying it was too busy. Personally, I was just happy to get a few shots in what I felt was a challenging environment.
