I have decided to feature the circus photographs taken at Duffy's Circus back in December (18/12/25). Tom Duffy's Circus is the only circus in Ireland to hold the prestigious Big Top Label and features a range of skilled performers. The Christmas special adopted a pantomime type performance as the performers searched for a bell.
This photo was one of my favorites of Maycon the clown who provided continuity between acts. Maycon aka Douglas Fernandes from Brazil was a skilled and humorous performer who photographed well. I chose this photo from a set of images where Maycon was larking about with balloons and being 'afraid' of one bursting. This shot actually froze part of the burst balloon as well as the reaction of Maycon.
For the feature shot above, I used a shutter speed of 1/1000 with an open aperture of f/2.8 and ISO 2500. The 70-200 mm lens was fully zoomed to 200mm and mounted on my Canon R5ii handheld, taken from my audience seat in the second row of the tiered seating.
