I decided to go for a walk in the local park (Tymon). It was New Years Day and I thought that I would try exercise a bit more in 2026! I grabbed the camera with the 100-500 mm lens on it for a bit of motivation and headspace even though the weather nor light was ideal. I was taking some shots of birds at the lake when a man, who was walking with his wife, stopped and chatted and asked me if I had taken photos of the friendly grey squirrel near by. I hadn't know there was one about and he gave me really good directions on how to find it. And, there it was grabbing food from a special feeder nailed to a tree. This was my favourite shot of it, for it seemed like a game of hide n seek was taking place and he was peeking out sussing me out.
The long lens resulted me in having an open aperture of f/7.1, I used a slow enough shutter speed for a squirrel because I wasn't comfortable with how that R5ii had been handling high ISO. My shutter speed was 1/250 sec and my ISO was 4,000.
The kindness of a person passing by give me some nice headspace and warmed me up on a cold New Years Day.
