This image of the orange butterfly taken at the Butterfly house at Malahide Castle and Gardens on 5th October stood out among the batch I took.  I liked the uncluttered background with nice tonnes, mostly facilitated by the open aperture of f/3.5 on my 180 mm macro lens along with the position I stood in.  I used a shutter of 1/2500 second to freeze the movement of butterfly's movement. The level of light was good due to being in a glasshouse on a relatively bright day so I had an ISO of 1600.  I was using my Canon R5ii and generally happy that it was picking up the eye of the insect much better than the R6.

I felt that the image had a painterly look to it and chose not to overdo the saturation.  I was delighted that the image scored the maximum 20 marks in the November round of the colour digital winter league in DCC.
