This hoverfly was taken with my new Canon R5ii in the Botanic Gardens (Glasnevin) as I was trying to get use to the settings and using something different.
I had my Canon 100mm RF macro lens on the body and had an aperture of f/4.5. I chose to go a bit higher than it's open aperture of f/2.8 because I felt not enough of the hoverfly would be in focus with the open aperture. Ideally I would have using a higher f number but with the shutter speed of 1/3200 sec. I needed an ISO of 4,000 and I wasn't sure if the R5ii would handle noise as well as my trusted R6.
I find flying shots extremely difficult to focus on and this shot is really just a record shot, it is better than most of my efforts.
