Poor George, he is not at his best. Reptiles and amphibians shed their skin as it doesn't grow larger, it just gets tighter. Each of my exotics seem to shed in a different way. The frogs suck in, contort themselves and suck in the skin and swallow it. Unlike my two reptiles they don't appear to go paler in colour. Both George my Panther Chameleon and Sheddie my Leopard Gecko go very pale in colour prior to shedding. Most times you wouldn't realise Sheddie has shed because she can pull off skin almost complete and then eats it. George is completely different, he seems to shake himself to loosen little flakes of old skin. The first time he shed after me getting him, I came home and his enclosure looked like there was a snow blizzard. Everything was covered in white flecks.
I took this shot while George was out for a roam in the room so I managed a clear background! I used a shutter speed of 1/250 sec. as he was moving about slowly. I set the aperture to f/7.1 as I wanted to try ensure that most of his head was in focus and I didn't need to blur the background. ISO was high at 8,000. I had my 100mm RF macro lens on the Canon R6 which I hand held.
