Meet Titch

Titch and Tilly moved in today.  Titch (in the feature photo above) is tiny compared to it's mate, which makes me wonder if Titch is a male frog and Tilly is a female.  Female frogs tend to be bigger than males.  Titch and Tilly are Milk Frogs and in the wild they would be found in Amazon rainforests.  They are nocturnal which means they wake at just after 8 pm and will be active at night, mostly sleeping during daylight hours.

I have them in a Habistat 18x18x24 inch glass enclosure with a mesh top, similar to the other two frog enclosures that I have.  I have a UBV light, a led plant light and a deep heat projector on top to provide heat and light.  The heat is set to reach 82/83 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and drop to 75  degrees at night.  UBV and heat are on a 12 : 12 cycle.  The milk frogs, like my red eye tree frogs, require misting twice a day as it is preferable to have high humidity.  I have their enclosure beside the red eyes so they share a rainmaker which automatically mists 30 minutes before lights on and 30 minutes after lights off.

I am finding it slightly easier to take photos of them compare to the Red Eyes and the Whites Tree Frogs.  They are more tolerant to light and human activity than the Red Eyes.  That said, I would not use flash, I just mean that they are less skittish if they are awake when it is bright. The feature photo above was taken soon after Titch was put in the enclosure.  I used my EF 180mm macro lens on my Canon R6 with the adapter.  I used  shutter speed of 1/160 sec. with an open aperture of f/3.5 and auto ISO set at 4000.
