It is rare that I get a bird in flight shot in focus, so when I got a few out of a burst of shots, I was shocked. I hadn't intended on the flight shots. I was focusing on a cormorant, in the distance on a branch on the weir on the River Dodder in Knocklyn, with it's wing outstretched in the sun. After it shuffled about a bit I realised it might take off so I increased the shutter speed to 1/4000 sec.
Unfortunately the scene around the flying bird was not the most attractive so I decided I would experiment. I selected the cormorant out of 5 images in the burst and pasted it into the base image to demonstrate the wing action of taking off. It is certainly not a polished image. I didn't fine tune each selection as it was just an 'experiment'.
