This simple full portrait shot of the thrush was taken in the Botanic Gardens. I adopted my usual 'wildlife' approach - take a few distant shots of the creature, standing upright and slowly moving forward. When I got as close as I reckoned possible I dropped low to the ground to get a better perspective. I had an open aperture of f/8, the 1.5 extender on my 100-400mm EF lens increasing the open aperture, with a shutter speed of 1/800 sec. and an ISO of 1250. I had set the exposure to two thirds under. The shot was taken at 560 mm, the furthest reach on the with the 1.4 extender.
