Introducing George

On the two occasions I took the camera to Reptiles and Exotics in January the small male Amboile Panther Chameleon kept me amused and I really fell for him.  He kept in my mind and I felt he would make a great addition to my 'exotic' pet family.  Chameleons are much harder to keep than my leopard gecko and my frogs.  They require misting at least twice a day and a fogger to run during the night.  Like my other enclosures this one would need a UBV light and a heat lamp on a thermostat.  I spent early February setting up the enclosure trying to get it with the correct heat and humidity.  It seems fitting that George moved in on the 14th of February, St Valentines Day.

This feature photo is of George in his new home on the 18th of February as he settled in.  The shutter speed was slower than the shot I featured in January at 1/100 sec. and I reduced the aperture to  f/5.6  with an ISO of 3200.  You will see that at f/5.6 much of George's body was out of focus but importantly his face and eye is in sharp focus.
