Whites Tree Frog Update

The Whites Tree Frogs have grown a lot since their arrival in my study in March.  The two I have are 'Indonesian' which means that they will grow a bit bigger than the Australian variant.  They sleep during the day and are light green in colour (as in the image above) but at night when the light goes out and the temperature cools they go brown in colour (see below).

I managed to take the daytime photo because I accidently woke one of them early in the day when I was cleaning their enclosure.  This meant that I had much better light to operate with.  I used my 100 mm macro lens on my Canon R6 and set the aperture at f/5 in the hope I would get more of the frog in focus than with the open aperture of f/2.8.  I set the shutter speed to 1/100 sec. just fast enough to freeze it's subtle movement and an auto ISO of 3200.  In contrast, the shot below, taken at night had to use very different settings.  This time I had no option but to use an open aperture of f/2.8 as their enclosure lights were off.  I set the shutter speed to 1/60 sec. (below that could result in blur caused by handshake when not using a tripod) and ISO was maxed at 25,600.  Luckily Topaz DeNoise allows you to remove the noise from the high ISO saving the shot.

They are great fun to watch at night, especially at feeding time.
