The red fox has become common in Ireland with many wondering into urban areas. I have one that comes by the front garden in the evenings. They are small doglike animals with a reddish tint through their brown fur. They have a long bushy tail which can have black markings and the tip can be white. The underbelly is greyish white. The head is pointed with upright ears.
This photo was taken at Irish Photography Hides (Woodland Hide) in Laois. The hide is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. At the same time as the fox a pine marten was busy eating food high up on a branch (see photo below)! Later I had the joy of photographing a male and female kestrel. The female spend ages eating bait that was left out for it (photos coming soon).
I used my 100-500 mm RF lens on my Canon R6 which has a shutter speed set at 1/800 of second. As the lens was fully zoomed out the open aperture was f/7.1 and auto iso came in at 3200. I under expose by 2/3rd of a stop as sometimes the white can blow out and detail in the fur can be lost.
