This photo was taken out of the kitchen window just after the snow showers started. The colour of the backdrop looks autumnal and is a little odd with the snow. A significant flock of goldfinches snack on my feeders a few times each day. They favour sunflower hearts in a mesh feeder which allows many of the flock to grab seeds together.
The shutter speed was set at 1/500 sec. which was slower than what I would normally choose. The aperture was f8 because I had the 1.4 extender on my 100-400mm EF lens (fully zoomed to 560mm). ISO wasn't bad at 800 thanks to the bright sun which also gave the autumnal colouring.
