I have fallen way behind in editing photos so this is a quick edit of a JPEG not a RAW file from a trip to Mount Usher yesterday. It jumped out at me as I looked at the batch of photos with the strong white flowers against the blurred purple background. In time I will process the RAW image and play around with layers and textures to make it more 'arty'
The aperture on this shot was f8 but it still gave a significant blur to the background as I was using my much loved 100-400mm lens and a 1.4 extender. I was primarily out to photograph damselflies, dragonflies and butterflies and find that a good option over the macro lenses as you can grab a shot from a distance without disturbing the flighty creatures. The rest of the settings was a shutter of 1/1000 sec (I aim for double the focal length) and this resulted in an ISO of 200 as it was a very bright sunny day.
