I haven't been out with the camera much recently, so time to have a look-back. This photo was taken 5 years ago in Mount Usher Gardens. At the time I was using my 760D crop frame camera with the first generation 100mm macro lens. I chose a shutter speed of 1/1600 with an aperture of f3.2 and an ISO of 320. It is the only time I have managed to get a photo of a damselfly on such a bright flower.
Mount Usher Gardens offers great variety anytime of year. In summertime there is an abundance of damselflies - flying, resting, mating along the river or at the pond. The 22 acres of garden, developed by generations of the Walpole family can be found in Ashford in Wicklow. After a stroll through the gardens one can enjoy tea and scones sitting in the sunshine at the Avoca cafe.
