Having watched a very interesting presentation on textures and editing in Photoshop with Dublin Camera Club I decided to experiment. I had never really mastered the idea of masking and duplicate layers and I was delighted I actually managed to create a mask by replicating the instructions shown. I didn't have any images of textures so I had to improvise and try create something very basic.
The original shot was of a bunch of tulips lying on a white board (see below). I created a coloured and texturised layer in shades that were similar to the tulips. The new layer with the opacity adjusted was placed on top of the original image. I then brushed out the part of the mask that was on the two main tulips to wipe away the texture and show the detail of the flowers. Finally I created the inner edging with the outer area blurred to add a frame.
