A very simple Red Squirrel photo but one of my favourites from yesterdays trip to Irish Photography Hides. It was a different hide to the one I had been in before and the plan was to take photos of a pine marten. We arrived just after 8 am and stayed until 5 pm and no pine marten showed up. This this guy and some birds. I was delighted to see a pair of Yellowhammers and managed to take a few photos of them but I was either hampered by harsh sun or shade!
I had my camera mounted on a gimbal had on my manfrotto 055 tripod. For this photo the shutter speed was 1/2000 sec. with an open aperture of f8 and an ISO of 5000. The 1.4 extender gave me a reach of 560mm. I tried different settings adjusting the shutter speed to 1/320 sec. and 1/1000. You can see the sample images at these settings below.
1/320 sec. and ISO 1000
1/1000 sec. and ISO 2500
