The male chaffinch is more brightly coloured than the female. Mature males have bluish grey cap and red underparts. Behavior wise they feed seed that falls to the ground from the feeders rather than perching on the feeder. Opportunities for photos occur when they briefly rest on a branch or perch before searching the grass for fallen seed.
The shutter speed for this shot was 1/320 and an open aperture of f8 with an iso 3200. A 1.4x EF extender was attached to the 100-400 mm EF lens on a Canon R6. It was taken through the kitchen window so some loss of detail.
