Some birds are frequent visitors and others are much rarer. Bullfinches are in the rare category, but in recent days I have had the joy of seeing a couple come and visit my feeders. This male bullfinch didn't appear as stocky as the typical bullfinch. In this shot he was battling with a heavy breeze while waiting a turn on the feeder. The female was nearby.
I used my usual garden bird hand held settings of 1/1000 sec. shutter speed. Because I had my 1.4x extending on my 100-400 mm lens I had an open aperture of f8. The higher aperture meant I needed an iso of 12800. However, the R6 can handle noise fairly well and Topaz DeNoise is good at reducing the noise significantly when the background is fairly clear. The photo was taken through my kitchen window and the extender gave me a reach of 560 mm.
