Hey there

The red squirrel must be one of the most endearing small mammels found in Ireland.  Thankfully they are making a come back in Ireland.  Perhaps, the pine marten is helping them by keeping the grey squirrels at bay.

This photo was taken at Irish Photography Hides in Laoise.  It has a less natural appearance with the heather in the background.  You would almost think it was in a garden.  Because I was in a hide and sitting waiting for wildlife to appear I used my tripod with a gimbal head attached.  This allowed me to use a shutter speed of 1/250 sec.  I used my 1.4 extender so my open aperture was f8.  Auto iso came in at 4000.  The lens was zoomed to 450 mm.  The photo was landscape in orientation but cropped to portrait for a better composition and to eliminate excess clutter.
