Getting ruffled

The Snowy Owl is a large white owl that in the wild would be found in the Artic region.  It is a stunning bird and very stricking with the the bright yellow eyes set in the white face.  Trips to bird of prey centers provide a great opportunity for photographers to get close and capture photos of birds that they wouldn't have access to.  Bird of Prey centres can be found in Russborough, Luttrellstown and at Eagles Flying in Ballymote.

This Snowy Owl photo was taken at the National Bird of Prey Centre at Russborough.  I used my usual settings of 1/1000 sec shutter speed and an aperture of f8.  Auto iso was 1600 and the shot was taken at 230mm zoom with some cropping in post processing.
