Once in a while you look at a shot on
the camera and think 'ah yes'. This is one of my recent favourites due to
its simplicity. The clear, calm(ish) water makes the duckling and its
reflection pop out. A very bright day facilitated a shutter speed of
1/4000 and I kept aperture at f5.6 and auto ISO set at 1000. It was my
first trip out with my new Canon R6 (using adapter with EF 100-400 lens) and I
really loved the eye tracking facility on the camera.
Ballymont Park is a small park beside Newlands
Cemetery easily accessible from Kingswood. While the ruins of Ballymont Castle
can be an option for a photo, the low-lying small lake provides a good vantage
point for low-level shots of waterfowl.
